What those diagnosed need
As people diagnosed with dementia lose cognition, they tend to be afraid as their world changes and much is misunderstood.
People with dementia are, first and foremost, people. Everyone wants a purpose in life. It is up to the care partner to seek opportunities for purpose. Many people with FTD can follow 1 instruction at a time. Giving multiple instructions will bring on apathy, as they can't put the steps in order to do a multi level task, like taking out the garbage. If you think taking out the garbage is 1 step, think about it. First you have to get the bag out of the can, then you have to tie the bag, then you have to locate the recepticle to dispose of the garbage, then you have to find a new bag, then you have to put a new bag into the can.
